Vinification
The 2013 vintage and the "discovery" of a small plot high up in the Outeniqua range at over 650m.  The fruit purity, analyses, range of flavours in the samples and the promise of a bumper crop buoyed the spirits, but the weekend prior to harvest 2 inches of rain and a rampant troop of baboons left us with just over two tons of fruit hand harvested the 2nd week of April.  Crushed and allowed brief skin contact, pressed and only the free-run kept and slowly fermented, the Bobbejaanberg was lightly filtered prior to bottling.  A mere 1400 bottles resulted and it was only apt to name the wine after the troop of Baboons and their sophisticated appreciation for Sauvignon Blanc.

Tasting Notes
This platinum coloured white combines undertones of sweet capsicum, crunchy celery, fynbos and green pea with lime zest, winter melon, white nectarine and wisps of black-currant.  A pronounced mineral finish, zesty natural acidity, low alcohol and lithe palate add to the enjoyment of this cool climate gem.  A cellar worthy Sauvignon to be enjoyed beyond 2018 or immediately if need be.

Harvest the grapes at 23-24 B with a yield of 13 ton/ha of Sauvignon Blanc vines.  The Vines are trellised in such a way that all the grapes are shaded to give the wine a grassy green flavour.

When you think of the houses of the quaint Karoo towns dotted along the Route 62 and beyond, one striking attribute that all share common is the presence of a "stoep" or wrap-around patio.  These "stoeps" serve as gathering places for friends, family and passers-by where stories are told, problems are solved and where you can take refuge from the day's toil.

To celebrate Boplaas's patriarch Ouma Roline's 90th vintage, her love of Sauvignon Blanc, the innumerable afternoons she's entertained friends and family on her "stoep" and the joy this has brought her, it is only apt that from this vintage the Boplaas Sauvignon Blanc will be henceforth be bottled as the Boplaas Stoepsit Sauvignon Blanc.

The first Sauvignon Blanc crafted at Boplaas was in 1982 and since then Roline's son, Carel Nel, has each vintage attempted to craft the ideal "stoep" companion for his mother and her friends.

Fresh fruit flavours of lime and lemon grass on the nose.  Lovely tangy lime-flavours with good weight and a crisp dry finish on the pallet.
