The Boplaas Heritage White Muscadel 2014 received a gold medal at this year’s Muscadel Challenge. It originates form 36 year-old Muscat de Frontignan vineyards which yield only 6 tons per hectare and the grapes were hand-picked at 30B.
The Boplaas Heritage White Muscadel was one of only four White Muscadels that received gold medals.
The Nels of Boplaas endeavour to create Muscadel wines brimming with fruity lemon, melon, citrus and fresh fig flavours, with hints of dried apricots and spices, all balanced by luscious sweetness on a lingering palate. Served well chilled, it is perfect as an aperitif or partner to spicy Indian dishes, heartening Cantonese cuisine, aromatic Thai dishes and traditional Cape fare such as bootie and rice.
The fine Boplaas Muscadels are available from the winery’s tasting room in Calitzdorp and Klein-Brak Rivier (Mossel Bay) and selected fine wine shops in South Africa.
